An old fashioned way to keep butter fresh without refrigeration, the classic french butter keeper. This was a much requested item from our customers, so we started making them a number of years back. In order to keep butter fresh, it needs to be kept away from the air. A French butter dish does this by using water to form a seal between the butter and the air. There are two parts to the dish: a smaller, bell- or cone-shaped lid that sits on a wide base. You fill the bell or lid up with butter, put water in the larger container, and invert the lid into the water. You can keep this on your kitchen table so that butter is always available without having to soften it. Comes with directions.
